What, exactly, is your method of cleaning the DivaCup?
(I brought this back to the top because I'm having trouble cleaning the pin-holes, and I'm wondering what thoughts you ladies have.)

the ins and outs of life with the divacup

Sometimes all I have handy is antibacterial hand soap... so I rinse it out with water first and get my sink looking somewhat normal again and then lather my hands up with soap( or a vagisil wash-which apparently isn't really soap) and wash it and rinse it. Not sure that I'm doing it all the right way but it seems to be working. I didn't realize I was supposed to give it a good final cleaning and let it air out before storing for another 28 days. Hmmmm.
I thought I had posted on this, but I guess I hadn't.. although I meant too.. I empty the cup in the toilet, or sometimes I just pour it down the sink drain. Then I just clean mine with a good rinse under warm water, fold and rinse the holes, and every few empties I'll use an "all natural" hand soap to clean it. I give it a good scrubbing (with my fingers) before I store it back in it's little bag, although I don't rememeber reading anything about letting it air out?? Is that in the instructions? hmm.. I guess I could check..
sometimes it helps to "empty" the holes by a simple scrape with a fingernail tip.. :) for any stubborn things that will not simply rinse out.. I hope that helps!
My pin-holes seem to be blocked and someone pointed out to me that sticking a safety pin through them might not be the most sanitary solution... but I can't get them to just wash out with soap and water!
My pinholes clean out quite easily, so I'm not sure what to suggest Sarah! :( I will often fold the cup (with the hole on the fold), and a light rub from the bottom up with my thumb or a piece of tissue will take everything out of the holes. I hope that helps.. :\.. If I were closer I'd demonstrate just what I mean (with a clean cup of course!)
Hey Sarah, I don't know if you ever figured out how to clean out the pinholes.. I recently used the pointy end of a (new & disposable) flossing pik to clean out mine. Worked fantastic! :)
Great idea, Susan, thanks!
